Phase IV

Phase IV trials are conducted after Phase III trials are complete and frequently are performed after a drug is approved for market in a country.

In a Phase IV trial, the drug must be used within the approved label if the drug has been approved for market. The trials are designed to allow physicians to gain experience with a new drug.
